James Maddison is hoping to play alongside Harry Kane at Tottenham this season.
The striker is being strongly linked with a move to FC Bayern.
Bayern are in talks with Spurs over a deal for the 30-year-old.
Maddison’s latest comments suggest it could be bad news for Kane’s continuity at Spurs.
Maddison: “But what will be will be…”
Maddison said: “We were friends before I joined Tottenham from the England squad, we have similar interests and get on well anyway away from football.
“I would love Harry Kane to stay, he’s the best No9 in the world in my opinion.
Spurs fans believe that “but what will be will be” suggests that Maddison knows the inevitable is coming.
Bayern’s latest offer for Kane is around £86 million but Daniel Levy is holding out for £100 million.
Kane is also ready to stay at Spurs for another season if a deal is not agreed before Spurs’ first game against Brentford on August 13.
