Tottenham have re-opened talks over a move for Roma attacking midfielder Niccolo Zaniolo as Antonio Conte looks to add more reinforcements from the Serie A this January.
His Spurs side are currently fifth in the Premier League, five points outside the top four at the midway point of the season, and a tepid 2-0 home defeat to north London rivals Arsenal underlined the issues at the club as it stands.
Despite enjoying their best-ever start to a Premier League season, they have won just two of their last five, and have relied on late comebacks heavily throughout the campaign to date.
One major issue is creativity, with Harry Kane often having to become both creator and finisher and Heung-Min Son woefully out of form, while Dejan Kulusevski and summer signing Richarlison have suffered with injury issues in the first part of the season.

And, as per reports in Italy, Spurs have looked to address this major issue with an offer for Zaniolo, who has managed just 1 goal in 13 appearances so far this season for Roma.
It is reported that the Lilywhites have offered an initial loan deal, with an obligation to buy the 23-year-old in the summer as they look to strengthen their ranks. Meanwhile, Roma are keen for a guaranteed fee of between 35 and 40 million euros for the Italian, something which at present Tottenham are not willing to meet.
Elsewhere, Spurs are dithering over a deal for Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro, with a move now reportedly unlikely after they saw a bid of 35m euros plus a player turned down on Wednesday.
