The man in question is Kieran Tierney.
Kieran Tierney was a mainstay in the Gunners’ backline for several years. However, the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko on top of some injury issues has led to the Scotsman’s game time being slashed.
He did start vs West Ham recently when Zinchenko was sidelined, but it is clear Tierney has fallen down the pecking order in north London.
Newcastle United have been linked with Tierney over the last few months and it is understood that the left-back would be open to a summer switch as he searches for more regular game time.
Bacary Sagna, however, believes there is still hope for Tierney at the Emirates, but urged him to fight to win his place back:
“I wouldn’t leave the club,” he told sportingpost.com. “He needs to fight to play and come back into the manager’s plan. He is part of what’s becoming one of the best clubs in England, so where is he going to go?
Should Tierney leave, Arsenal would need to dip into the transfer market for more cover at left-back as they would be left with just Zinchenko who is natural in that role.
Takehiro Tomiyasu can play there, but he is currently cover at right-back and centre-back when fit.
