Fulham have completed the signing of midfielder Sander Berge from Burnley for a reported £25million.

Berge was reportedly a target for Manchester United earlier in the transfer window after standing out despite Burnley’s relegation last season.

He joined the Clarets last summer after helping Sheffield United secure promotion to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old is the latest arrival during an eventful window at Craven Cottage, having also completed moves for Emile Smith Rowe, Jorge Cuenca and Ryan Sessegnon with a move for Joachim Anderson also thought to be close.

Berge looks to be a direct replacement for Joao Palhinha, who joined Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

Berge told the club website: “It feels fantastic. It’s been a little bit back and forth the last few weeks, but I’m finally sitting here in the shirt in this beautiful stadium, knowing that my future is here, which feels great.

“Fulham has always been a team that excited me. I’ve played them both in the Championship and Premier League, and it’s fantastic how they play, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1.

“The DNA of the Club is to be dominant, aggressive, front-footed, and play nice football, and I think that suits me.”

The Norwegian was an almost ever present in the top flight last season for Burnley, featuring in 37 of 38 games under Vincent Kompany.

Owner Tony Khan added: “I’m excited to welcome Sander Berge to Fulham! Sander has tremendous experience playing in the Premier League and in international competition, and we believe that he’ll be a great addition to our squad, as we look forward to our first home game of the season this weekend!

“Come on Fulham!”
