Italian heavyweights AC Milan have opened negotiations with their counterparts at Chelsea over the potential signing of an out-of-favour member of the Blues’ midfield ranks.
The player in question? Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Gifted technician Loftus-Cheek is currently in the midst of another hit-and-miss campaign to date.
Owing to a combination of fitness struggles and competition for places, the England international has managed appearances in 22 of Chelsea’s 35 Premier League fixtures, featuring from the off in 17.
With major reinforcements expected in the middle of the park at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season, however, Loftus-Cheek could soon see his game-time further reduced.
In turn, on Thursday, it shouldn’t come as a major surprise to hear of the 27-year-old being tipped for a summer departure from west London.
‘AC Milan are in concrete talks to sign Ruben Loftus Cheek from Chelsea.’
RLC is understood to be a ‘priority’ signing on the red half of the Milanese divide, after Ismael Bennacer was ruled out long-term owing to a knee injury.
Significantly, it is also suggested that the Chelsea youth product is ‘keen’ on the prospect of a move to San Siro, with negotiations ‘progressing very well’.
