Saudi Arabia continues to operate aggressively in the summer transfer market after the Public Investment Fund-backed offensive to prize top talent away from the European game now targets a possible move for star Inter Milan keeper André Onana.
Reports from CBS Sports’ James Benge detail an official offer from Roshn Saudi League giants Al-Nassr that could potentially hijack Manchester United’s attempts to secure a new first-choice shot-stopper while reuniting Erik ten Hag with a former pupil.

The Saudi Pro League wants the best players they can find and there weren’t many keepers better than Onana last season. https://t.co/oEu7MIBHCJ

The 27-year-old former La Masia attendee turned Ajax shot-stopper became a key piece of the puzzle at Inter Milan in 2022-23 and a vital member of a side that unexpectedly reached the finals of the Champions League.
Onana would become the latest in a laundry list of footballers plying their respective trades in the top echelon of football in Europe that Saudi Arabia has aggressively targeted across a summer transfer remit meant to change the rhetoric surrounding football in the Gulf kingdom while making it a desirable destination to some of the biggest names in the beautiful game.
Per Benge’s report, “Al-Nassr had been linked with a move for David de Gea, whose contract at Old Trafford expired at the end of last month, but rather than doing a favor to United, could instead hand a significant blow to Ten Hag’s plans by swooping in to secure the services of Onana. If they were to miss out on their favored goalkeeper, De Gea would be a fallback option. The Riyadh side has already secured the services of Marcelo Brozović this month and is working to add Seko Fofana to a squad that includes United legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.”
