Premier League giants Chelsea have, on Friday evening, confirmed the latest addition to the club’s first-team ranks.
The player to have linked up with the Blues with a view to next season? Nicolas Jackson.
The name of frontman Jackson, of course, has taken its place centre stage in the headlines in west London for several weeks now.
This comes after widespread reports pointed towards the powers that be at Chelsea stepping up their pursuit of the Senegalese.
Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements up top ahead of Kai Havertz’s move to Arsenal, Jackson, fresh off a scintillating close to the La Liga season with Villarreal, was earmarked as the ideal addition to incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino’s frontline.
After the Stamford Bridge brass agreed to pay in excess of the 22-year-old’s release clause, so as to spread the payment over a longer time period, a deal, in turn, was quickly reached.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the capital club:
‘Chelsea is pleased to announce the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Spanish side Villarreal.’

Delving into the finer details of his arrival, Jackson has followed the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk in putting pen to paper on a remarkable eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
His signature, meanwhile, has set Chelsea back a sum in the region of €37 million.
