Premier League giants Arsenal have taken another step towards landing the club’s prime defensive target with a view to next season.

The player inching towards a move to north London? Jurrien Timber.

Word of Arsenal’s interest in stopper Timber, of course, first came to the fore early last week.

In news broken by Gunners transfer expert David Ornstein, it was revealed that the powers that be at The Emirates had tabled an opening offer worth a fee in the region of £30 million for the Dutchman.

Ajax, however, threw a spanner in the works, in knocking back the proposal without so much as a 2nd thought.

Nevertheless, it was noted that Arsenal had already come to a contract agreement with Timber himself, with hope surrounding a transfer eventually coming to fruition having therefore remained intact.

In news first broken by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it was revealed that the powers the Emirates brass and their Ajax counterparts ‘are now entering in the final stages of talks for Jurrien Timber’.

This comes after a fresh bid worth a sum in the region of €45/48 million was submitted earlier this week.

A transfer, in turn, is viewed as being as good as imminent, with Timber looking set to join both Kai Havertz and Declan Rice in an increasingly formidable squad under the watch of Mikel Arteta in England’s capital.
