The player in question is Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Marca last month, Barcelona were not the only high-profile club pursuing Joshua Kimmich in the summer transfer window as the midfielder is also a target for Arsenal and Liverpool.

It was added that the Bundesliga champions want at least €60 million to part ways with their prized asset and that Kimmich’s long-term future at the Bundesliga club was uncertain.

However, the player himself has now spoken out on these rumours.

Speaking while away on international duty with the German camp, Kimmich told BILD: “It was difficult not to come across it [the rumours].

“Generally, I’m not too invested in the rumours.

Whilst this is a blow to Arsenal, the Gunners are continuing to work on a deal for West Ham captain Declan Rice as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Moises Caicedo is also a long-term target of the north Londoners, though affording both Rice and the Brighton man in one window does seem unrealistic.
