The player in question is Charlie Patino.
It was reported back in May that the 19-year-old will be put up for sale after making clear his desire for first-team football, which is not expected to be on offer to him at the Emirates Stadium.
Now, however, despite it looking like Patino was heading for the exit door for good a couple of months ago, journalist Charles Watts has shared an update on what he has been told about the midfielder:
“We have all been waiting to see what’s going to happen with Charlie this summer,” said Watts. “It was revealed towards the end of last season that Arsenal were probably going to let him go on a permanent transfer. Things are going on with Charlie, at the moment.
“Talking to some people around the club and at the club on him, as far as I am aware, all options are open when it comes to Charlie Patino, that includes a loan now. “Whereas, not long ago, it looked like it was probably going to be a permanent deal for Charlie – things are starting to move with him, if it is a loan, then obviously, he will only have a year left on his contract at the end of next season, so there is that to consider.
“All options are now open with Charlie and it’s not a foregone conclusion that it’s just going to be a permanent.”
