Premier League giants Arsenal are, according to reports, just details away from closing a deal for the club’s first signing of the summer.
The player primed for an imminent move to north London? Jurrien Timber.
Word of Arsenal’s interest in defender Timber, of course, first came to the fore earlier this week.
In news broken by Gunners transfer expert David Ornstein, it was revealed that the powers that be at The Emirates had tabled an opening offer worth a fee in the region of £30 million for the Dutchman.
This came with an agreement on the personal terms of a contract already in place between the parties.
Ajax, however, threw a spanner in the works, in knocking back Arsenal’s proposal without so much as a 2nd thought.

This comes amid fresh claims that the 22-year-old is ‘on the verge’ of linking up with Mikel Arteta’s side.
As per a report from Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany, contrary to previous claims, Bayern Munich are not involved in the race for Timber as things stand.
This has left Arsenal with a free run at the talented central defender, who ‘wants to join’ the Londoners.
An imminent agreement, as a result, is ‘expected’ between the respective boards at The Emirates and Johan Cruyff Arena, for a fee of €40-45 million, plus bonuses.
