As 101 covered earlier this week, Arsenal are eyeing up Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte as they look to find a replacement for Jurrien Timber in the wake of his injury.
Timber made his Premier League debut vs Nottingham Forest last weekend but was forced off early in the second half.
Timber could be now facing months on the treatment table, with scope to suggest that he could miss nearly the entire 2023/24 season as a whole after he suffered an ACL rupture.
This injury leaves Arsenal with limited options at centre-back, and any suspension or injury picked up by William Saliba or Gabriel would leave their backline looking very thin.
Laporte appeared to be the man to fix this issue, but as per David Ornstein on Wednesday, Manchester City have accepted an offer for Ayermic Laporte from Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr and the Frenchman is thought to be open to the possibility of a move.
Arsenal now face the prospect of having just three fit central defenders for the 2023/24 campaign, with Ben White needed to provide the cover at right-back.
