The player in question is Sporting defender, Ousmane Diomande.
Diomande joined Sporting in January of 2023 from Danish side FC Midtjylland for €7.5m.
The 19-year-old is one of the brightest, young defenders in the Portuguese top flight and is currently under contract until 2027 with a £68m release clause in said deal.
Despite his age, Diomande is now a regular starter for Sporting. He has made 21 appearances in total for the club and started all four of their league games so far this season.
Such impressive form at such a young age has, according to Fabrizio Romano, caught the eye of Premier League outfit, Arsenal:
“Arsenal, meanwhile, have been linked strongly with Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande by the Portuguese press,” Romano said.
Arsenal are lacking in the centre-back department now Jurrien Timber is out for the season. Perhaps Diomede could be a January target at the Emirates?
