Arsenal need cover in the centre of their midfield ahead of 2022/23 when Mohamed Eleney and Albert Sambi Lokonga are likely to depart and have been linked with another name recently.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are keen on improving their midfield options at the end of the season, and they have identified Romeo Lavia as a potential target. Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on the Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo as well.

Lavia joined Southampton from Manchester City over the summer and had a superb start to life with the Saints, including playing a key role in a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

The Belgian was then sidelined with a hamstring problem after that game but has now made a return to regular first-team football.

Arsenal are well placed to win the league title this season, and are expected to qualify for the Champions League as well, making them an attractive destination for players like Lavia.

Lavia is rated at €25m by transfermarket but the Saints would likely demand a higher fee.
