A fifth consecutive summer of credible investment at Villa Park has continued today after Aston Villa officially announced the capture of Italian international midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo.
The 24-year-old Massa-born attacking midfielder arrives from Turkish giants Galatasaray as the fourth signing of the summer that has seen the club bring in further arrivals in Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres, and Youri Tielemans.
Zaniolo arrives on an initial loan deal that Villa can make permanent for a fee of around €27m, which would take their spending over the £100m mark should they pull the trigger.
After his arrival at the club’s Bodymoor Heath Training Ground complex, Zaniolo spoke about his motivations in coming to a club he classed as “one of the best teams in England and in the Premier League.”
“Aston Villa is one of the best teams in England and in the Premier League. I want to play and show my quality.”

“Thank you, I am very happy to be here. When director Monchi called me, I said I can’t wait to be here and I can’t wait to play the first minutes for this shirt…for this amazing club.”
“In the last 24 hours, I started in Istanbul yesterday morning and then I came here to the training ground, did a medical test, and then I went to a hotel after the medical test to stay with my family and my friends. Today I met my teammates…my new teammates…I spoke with mister (Unai Emery), and I went to see a new property, and now I am here.”
