A headline member of the defensive setup at Premier League outfit Aston Villa is inching towards the exit door, according to reports.
The player in question? Lucas Digne.
For those not aware, Unai Emery and co. are currently in the process of revamping the left-back ranks at Villa Park.
Evidently of the opinion that the position represents something of a weak point in the club’s squad, the Claret and Blue hierarchy today kicked into gear negotiations with their counterparts at Arsenal.
This comes with Gunners talent Nuno Tavares having been identified as a key target:

Personal terms not discussed yet — as up to the clubs now.

Should Tavares ultimately make his way to Aston, though, then a departure, it would appear, will too be required.
French international Digne has featured from the off in each of his side’s first two outings of the Premier League campaign.
As revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, though, the former AS Roma and Barcelona man is inching towards a return to his home country, with OGC Nice.
‘OGC Nice are advancing in talks to sign Lucas Digne from Aston Villa.’
Negotiations between Villa and Nice are understood to be based around a potential season-long loan, featuring an option to buy.
