A fresh insight into the ongoing efforts of the powers that be at Spanish giants Barcelona to reinforce the club’s midfield ranks has been provided on Thursday evening.

The first update centers on a long-time Blaugrana target, who has opted to take his talents elsewhere.

The player in question? Marcelo Brozovic.

For those not aware, links between Barca and Inter Milan standout Brozovic had come back to the fore in a major way over the last couple of weeks.

This came amid widespread claims that Xavi Hernandez had placed the Croatian international atop his midfield wishlist with a view to next season.

As confirmed a short time ago, however, Brozovic is instead primed to take his talents to Saudi Arabia.

‘Marcelo Brozović says yes to Al Nassr proposal, here we go! Verbal agreement reached, waiting to sign all the contracts.’

The 30-year-old, in turn, will imminently make the move to Riyadh, ahead of joining forces with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Hakim Ziyech.

Despite missing out on their first-choice target, however, the board at the Camp Nou remain fully intent on adding to a talented core of engine room options with a view to the coming seasons.

And such intentions have now led the La Liga champions, it would appear, to Turkey.

This comes amid claims that Joan Laporta and co. are ready to step up their pursuit of Fenerbahce sensation Arda Guler.

For those not aware, Guler is a gifted attacking midfielder, widely considered to be one of the finest talents in not only Turkey, but all of Europe.

The starlet is fresh off a breakout campaign in his home country, which saw him rack up six goals and seven assists in 35 appearances, despite, remarkably, having only turned 18 back in February.

Guler is a fully established senior international, too, boasting a solitary goal across four appearances in Turkey colours.

And such endeavours, in turn, have evidently led to the Fener prodigy piquing the attentions of the scouting team at Barcelona.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italy, Blaugrana sporting director Deco is now ‘pushing’ to land Guler ahead of next season.

Some outlets have even gone as far as to suggest that Deco flew to Istanbul earlier today, to hold a meeting with the Fenerbache brass, over the terms of a deal for their crown jewel.
