Spanish giants Barcelona have positioned themselves at the front of the queue for an out-of-favour member of the defensive setup at Premier League champions Manchester City, according to reports.
The Sky Blues star in question? Joao Cancelo.
Cancelo, of course, spent the 2nd half of this past season out on loan.
After being deemed surplus to requirements by boss Pep Guardiola, the Portuguese international made a surprise move to Germany, to link up with Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich.
With the board at the Allianz Arena having since failed to commit to making his arrival permanent, however, the future of the 29-year-old has been thrown firmly back up in the air.

With City ready to sanction another departure, the door, in turn, has been opened to any and all other suitors.
And, as alluded to above, late on Thursday, a fresh insight into the situation of the former Juventus man has been forthcoming online.
The info comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that it is La Liga champs Barca who are the current ‘favourites’ to strike a summer deal for Cancelo.
Xavi Hernandez, it is understood, is eyeing reinforcements at full-back ahead of next season, with the City man’s ability to line out on either side making his arrival an attractive proposition.
Barça are favourites to sign Joao Cancelo this summer.
