The player in question is Gabriel Magalhães.
Gabriel joined Arsenal from Lille in 2020 for €26m and has since gone on to become a key feature in Mikel Arteta’s backline.
The Brazilian is Arsenal’s only senior centre-back who is naturally left-footed, making him an excellent partner for William Saliba or Jurrien Timber.
And whilst Gabriel has been known to make a few mistakes, he is crucial to Arteta’s system and trying to replace him may be easier said than done given left-footed centre-backs are harder to come by.
However, journalist Dean Jones has speculated recently that Gabriel could leave Arsenal this summer, claiming there is big interest in the defender:
“Nicolas Pepe hasn’t gone yet has he? So Nicolas Pepe for sure. The surprise one, if there’s a surprising player who could be lured away it could be Gabriel. I don’t think it will happen, but that’s one player I’ve heard a few whispers about in terms of interest and big interest so it’s plausible there could be an offer for him,” Jones said.
