According to the Sun, former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reached out to Masson Greenwood about possibly joining him at AS Roma on loan.
Mason Greenwood, 21, had been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. But Greater Manchester Police announced on February 2 that Greenwood “no longer faces criminal proceedings”.
The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood and United have been conducting their own process as they “determine the next steps”.
United have spent almost five months mulling over Greenwood’s future and a club source insists they are focused on settling on an outcome before next season begins.
The Manchester Evening News report that Manchester United are leaning towards loaning Mason Greenwood with Erik ten Hag against selling the forward.
But whatever happens with Greenwood this summer, Manchester United are expected to face fan backlash.
