After West Ham’s Europa Conference League win on Wednesday, Hammers chairman David Sullivan confirmed Rice’s exit is very likely.
Previous reports have also suggested that Rice wants to stay in London and that West Ham have already begun to plan how they will spend the money they get for the midfielder.
The Telegraph have claimed that the Gunners are readying a bid of £92m for the Englishman, and whilst a fee of around £120m is expected to be what West Ham want, all signs are pointing towards Arsenal eventually getting a deal over the line.
Bayern Munich have also been interested, but if Rice wants to stay in London, that leaves Arsenal as the heavy favourites.
And now, former Arsenal player turned academy coach, Jack Wilshere, has made a bold prediction for Declan Rice, stating that he will be sensational for the next eight-ten years and could be an Arsenal captain:
“I saw his interview [after the Europa Conference League final] and I think he made it clear that he knows there is speculation, and everyone knows that Arsenal are interested,” Wilshere told AFTV.
“Anyone that gets him, I hope it is Arsenal because I think he’ll be sensational for the next eight to 10 years and eventually he could be an Arsenal captain. So I hope he does come, but it’s down to him.”
