Chelsea are closing on the signature of yet another high-profile target of Premier League rivals Liverpool, according to reports.

The transfer tug-of-war between the respective boards at Stamford Bridge and Anfield, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the English media headlines over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the ongoing saga surrounding the future of Moises Caicedo took not one, but two fresh twists.

First, Liverpool appeared to have leapfrogged Chelsea in the race for the Brighton & Hove Albion standout, after usurping the Blues with a mammoth offer.

Just when it looked as though Caicedo was inching towards Anfield, however, word was forthcoming that the midfielder had rejected Jurgen Klopp’s troops, in favour of a move to west London.

And, late on Friday, confirmation has been forthcoming that Chelsea are also closing on the signature of a 2nd chief target on the red half of Merseyside.

As per a mounting number of sources, youngster Lavia is on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge, after Todd Boehly and co. agreed to fork over a sum in the region of £50 million to Southampton.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the powers that be at Liverpool opt to reenter themselves in the equation, by way of a superior proposal.
