Manchester United confirmed they had secured the services of Chelsea star Mason Mount last week.
The Red Devils did not mention a transfer fee, but it is understood to be around the £55m mark, which is a fair wack given Mount only had one year remaining on his last contract with Chelsea.
Mount made a total of 195 appearances for Chelsea’s senior side, scoring 33 and assisting 37 in the process, including providing the assist for Kai Havertz’s winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final.
Now, with Mount set to ply his trade in Manchester next season, Chelsea have begun eyeing up a replacement.
Football.london via the Express claim Chelsea have held talks over signing Lyon wonderkid Rayan Cherki this summer as a potential Mason Mount replacement.
It is believed that Chelsea are considering a move for Cherki and may have a ‘secret weapon’ in negotiations as the two clubs are on good terms after sealing a deal to bring right-back Malo Gusto to Stamford Bridge in January, but Chelsea allowed him to remain at Lyon for the remainder of the season.
