Chelsea have joined a pair of Premier League rivals in the race for one of the star performers of the Qatar World Cup, according to reports.
The player in question? Sofyan Amrabat.
Midfield all-rounder Amrabat, of course, proved a central cog in Morocco’s remarkable run to the semi-finals of the World Cup.
Afforded a starting berth in all six of his country’s outings in Qatar, the Fiorentina star shone on both sides of the ball, culminating in widespread calls for an inclusion in the Team of the Tournament.
Such stellar form, though, has too seen inevitable speculation regarding Amrabat’s future at club level begin to mount.
The last week alone has seen all of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona named as keen suitors of the 26-year-old, who has not been at all shy in hinting at his readiness to seek out a move following the turn of the year.

As per a report from the Daily Mail, cited by the reliable Simon Phillips, Chelsea have joined the hunt for Amrabat’s signature.
The Blues are of course desperate for reinforcements in the middle of the park, ahead of the expiration of the contracts of both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.
And, evidently, Amrabat has been identified as one potential solution to the capital outfit’s imminent engine room woes.
