Chelsea spent over £600m in the previous two transfer windows.
With such a spend, Chelsea were likely hoping for a cup run and a top-four finish.
But with over a month of 2022/23 still to play, the Blues’ season is already over.
They did not win the League Cup, were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid and are out of the FA Cup.
In the league, meanwhile, Chelsea are sat 11th in the table with any form of European football now all but gone.
As a result, attention has turned to the upcoming season, when Chelsea will have a new permanent manager.
Chelsea currently have 32 senior players on their books, meaning they can field two different XI’s and still have 10 players left over.
Now, as per the Evening Standard, Chelsea want to sell at least eight players in the summer.
Among the names up for sale are Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Edouard Mendy.
