An insight into the January transfer plans of Premier League giants Chelsea has been provided on Sunday.
The powers that be at Stamford Bridge, all told, enjoyed an altogether productive summer window.
Amid an ongoing push to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League, the Blues closed deals for no fewer than eight players, including Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
One area, however, which many of a Chelsea persuasion have since insisted remains significantly short-staffed comes in the form of Thomas Tuchel’s ranks in the middle of the park.
A deadline day loan swoop for Juventus’ Denis Zakaria marked the only noteworthy midfield reinforcement to the Pensioners’ senior setup, with Carney Chukwuemeka expected to spend the coming months at least largely lining out at youth level.

In turn, it should not come as a massive surprise to hear of Todd Boehly and co. having already turned their attentions towards the winter transfer window.
This comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding two key members of the club’s current midfield.
The players in question? N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
Chelsea are expected to go back in for a midfielder in January with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in the final year of their contracts.
