Chelsea are reportedly preparing a move to hijack Manchester United’s transfer of Benfica superstar Goncalo Ramos. The striker is one of Europe’s most-promising attackers after his performances at the World Cup and in Portugal.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, the Blues will send scouts to watch Ramos in action in Saturday’s Liga NOS clash with FC Porto, with even the ‘possibility’ of Todd Boehly attending the fixture to catch a closer glimpse of Ramos himself.
Ramos made a name for himself at the 2022 World Cup when he replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s XI and scored a hat-trick.
He has also been in fine form for Benfica so far this season and is expected to make a big move this summer.
Manchester United have been the main side linked with the hitman in recent months, with reports suggesting €70m will be enough to land Ramos, even though he has a €105m release clause.
Now though, Manchester United may have to look elsewhere for a new no.9 this summer as Chelsea have already shown they are not afraid to hand out huge contracts to players under the new regime.
