Spanish giants Real Madrid could be set to offer a potential summer transfer lifeline to German international ace Kai Havertz, according to reports from football insider Fabrizio Romano.

The La Liga runner-up is in the midst of retooling their senior squad over the next few months after failing to secure another league title after Barcelona ousted Carlo Ancelotti’s men from the top of the league pile, while also falling in the semi-finals of the Champions League at the hands of Manchester City.

Though Karim Benzema’s shock last-minute u-turn will mean the veteran Frenchman is set to remain in the capital one more season, the long-term outlook at center-forward still remains a question of concern for Ancelotti, with Havertz one of a handful of names on his transfer shortlist.

The iconic Italian manager is said to appreciate the versatile German forward, with Chelsea said to be willing to discuss a possible sale on the back of the West London club’s need to jettison a large number of members in the senior squad to guarantee FFP compliance, shed wages, and make room for possible further incomings since the confirmed managerial succession with Mauricio Pochettino.

As such, the Blues will expect a considerable offer to be fielded by Madrid despite Havertz’s failure to hit the same heights that had once seen him considered one of the brightest young talents in all of Europe.

Still only 23 and with plenty of time to right the ship, the Aachen-born forward has every chance to rekindle his career under a manager in Ancelotti that has presided over the meteoric rises of players the likes of Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo in recent seasons.
