Noni Madueke joined Chelsea from Dutch outfit PSV in the January transfer window for €35m.

The winger had previously impressed in the Netherlands but struggled for any meaningful impact during his first half-season with the Blues.

Madueke made 12 Premier League appearances, scoring one goal, but did not complete 90 minutes once.

The majority of his minutes came at the end of the campaign when Frank Lampard was in charge.

Mauricio Pochettino has since taken the reigns and the future of Madueke has been up in the air.

Now though, the player himself has provided an insight into Chelsea’s plans for him next season.

“A loan spell would be impossible for both parties”, he told Standard Sport. “I’ve been brought in and there’s a plan for me at the club. I finished the season well, so next season is just about kicking on in the team and showing everyone the real me.”

“The expectation for me from the club and myself is for me to play — and play well — next year, and to keep developing as a player and a person.”
