Premier League giants Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of a key summer target, according to reports.
The player inching towards a potential Stamford Bridge switch? Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Recent weeks, of course, have seen hitman Aubameyang hotly tipped for a return to London, having been identified by Thomas Tuchel and co. as the answer to Chelsea’s problems up top.
The Blues are in desperate need of reinforcements in the attacking third, on the back of the respective loan departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

And now, as alluded to above, an altogether telling fresh update into the situation has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of David Ornstein of The Athletic, who has confirmed that the powers that be at Chelsea, on Friday, tabled an official offer for Barcelona’s transfer-linked attacker.
Left-back Alonso has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou throughout the summer, with Chelsea evidently keen to take advantage of such interest on Barcelona’s part.
To this point, the La Liga heavyweights have yet to respond to the proposal, albeit with claims now beginning to spread that Joan Laporta and co. would favour a straight cash bid, rather than an exchange of sorts.
It therefore remains to be seen whether Chelsea are prepared to meet Barca’s Aubameyang asking price.
