A fresh twist in the future of Chelsea star Cesar Azpilicueta has been revealed late on Friday.
The name of defender Azpilicueta has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in west London over the course of the last couple of weeks.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the powers that be at Chelsea had come to an agreement on the imminent termination of their former captain’s contract.
Champions League finalists Inter Milan, in turn, swiftly entered the fray, with negotiations between the parties having been developing in a positive fashion across the week to date.

It has therefore no doubt come as a blow for all associated with Inter to hear that, on Friday evening, Azpilicueta has instead come to the decision to take his talents elsewhere with a view to next season.
The landing spot in question? Atletico Madrid.
The deal in question will see ‘Azpi’ commit to Atletico through the summer of 2025.
Chelsea will now move forward with the termination of the 33-year-old’s contract at Stamford Bridge, allowing their counterparts at the Wanda Metropolitano to make Azpilicueta’s arrival official.
