Italian youth international star Cesare Casadei is set to continue his development away from Stamford Bridge this season after the young Blues midfielder has agreed to a season-long loan with Leicester City.

As ever, football insider Fabrizio Romano provided details – even if limited – surrounding the move for the 20-year-old Italian U21 international, with Casadei set to ply his trade at King Power Stadium as the Foxes are in the midst of their attempts to climb back into the Premier League as soon as possible.

The former Cesena and Inter Milan academy standout recently won the golden boot at the U21 World Cup in Argentina, scoring seven goals and helping Italy to the final before losing out in a 1-0 loss against Uruguay.

It will be the second consecutive season for Casadei in the Championship after featuring fifteen times for Reading after spending half of 2022-23 with The Royals, who unfortunately were relegated to League One after finishing 22nd.

Casadei recently was reported to still be on board with Chelsea’s long-term vision surrounding his development despite the swath of business the club has once again conducted during the current summer transfer window.

At current, the Blues secured moves for Moisés Caicedo, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Ângelo this summer, and are also on the verge of adding Belgian international Roméo Lavia into the fold after out-bidding rivals Liverpool for the Saints star.

Though Casadei still has full backing from the club, with loan moves offering proof that there could be opportunities with the senior side should his spell with Leicester bear fruit, the club’s spending habits across the last two summer windows (plus January) could possibly stand in his way of ever having a future at Stamford Bridge.
