Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of playmaker, set-piece specialist and avid golf fan James Ward-Prowse from West Ham.
BBC Sport are reporting that Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah’s move to Crystal Palace will be on the deal sheet – giving clubs a little longer to complete formalities – when the 11pm deadline arrives.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have signed defender Morato from Benfica. “We’re sure he’ll feel at home here in Nottingham,” Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson says of the Brazilian.
Everton defender Mason Holgate’s off to Championship club West Bromwich Albion for the rest of the season.

Eddie Nketiah is the new Crystal Palace number nine, signing a five-year deal to join the Eagles from Arsenal for around £30m.
“It’s amazing to sign for Crystal Palace,” says the Lewisham-born 25-year-old. “I’m excited to get going. Every time I come back to South London, it always puts a smile on my face, so it’s good to be back home.”

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil said earlier today that the powers that be at the club would be “working hard” to reach late deals.
Here’s one of them: Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense has joined for £21m. The 23-year-old won the Copa Libertadores in 2023 and the Best Defensive Midfielder in Brazil award in 2022.

“I’m probably the happiest man in Southampton at the minute,” adds Fraser, claiming quite the title. “It’s been a long summer from the play-off final to now, but my number one goal was to get back here and now that it’s happened, it’s one of my proudest moments.”

Napoli have reached a deal with a Premier League club again. This time they’ve signed Billy Gilmour from Brighton & Hove Albion.
There’ll be plenty of Scottish steel in the Italian club’s midfield with Gilmour and Manchester United departee Scott McTominay operating for them.

Tick tock. The monumental rumours at the moment surround Jadon Sancho leaving Manchester United for Chelsea and Raheem Sterling heading to Arsenal from Stamford Bridge.
It would be some turnaround for former England forward Sterling to go from exile at a Uefa Europa Conference League club to first-team contention as part of a squad who challenged Manchester City last season.

After selling Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton earlier today, Arsenal have brought in Brazil international Neto from Bournemouth.
“I had two dreams as a kid to play for a football team,” explains Neto, who won’t be eligible to play when Brighton & Hove Albion visit Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
“It was my team in Brazil, where I grew up and became a professional footballer, and also Arsenal. And now I’m realising it. I’m a really lucky person.”

Somewhat less high-profile news: Brighton midfielder Mo Dahoud is also moving to Germany, joining Eintracht Frankfurt for an undisclosed fee.
Dahoud joined Albion before the start of last season but failed to cement his place in the first team, making 14 appearances before being borrowed by Stuttgart for the second half of the season.

One of the major moves of this transfer deadline day: Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has joined Napoli for £25.7m.

Newcastle defender Harrison Ashby is off to Championship club QPR on a season-long loan.

Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has joined RB Salzburg on a season-long loan.

Wolves have had a tough start, losing 2-0 at Arsenal and 6-2 at home to Chelsea, to whom they lost winger Pedro Neto for £54m earlier this month.
They’re away to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League tomorrow (3pm BST), and it sounds like O’Neil feels he needs reinforcements.

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil says the club will be “working hard” on transfer deals “right up until the close”.
“We’ve not turned the lights off and shut the door,” he continues, using some excellent deadline-day parlance. “We’re still working very hard upstairs to do anything that might become available to us.”

An outgoing at a Premier League club: Scotland Under-21 defender Ibane Bowat has joined Portsmouth from Fulham on a three-year deal.
A graduate of the Cottagers’ academy, Bowat’s been on loan at FC Den Bosch and TSV Hartberg during the past two seasons. “Ibane is a cultured and athletic player, who’s comfortable on the ball and also enjoys his defending,” says Pompey manager John Mousinho.

Thought Manchester United were done today? Maybe think again.
Sporting director Dan Ashworth just told TNT Sports: “There are still a few hours to go, so who knows what will happen? But so far we have been really happy with the business we have done in and out.”
“We have a couple of conversations going on. That’s all I can say.”
With the Premier League, two domestic cups and Europa League to contend with, is Erik ten Hag’s squad deep enough?
1555
Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has joined Ligue 1 club Strasbourg on loan for the rest of the season, having made 31 appearances for the Blues.
Petrovic arrived from New England Revolution in 2023 for £12.5m plus £1.5m in add-ons. The Serbia international made his Premier League debut in December and played in their Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool in February.

You couldn’t write it! Around an hour after Ten Hag suggested Sancho would be staying, reports suggest Chelsea have submitted an official proposal for the winger.
Manchester United are exploring a deal for Carney Chukwuemeka and could move to include the midfielder in a swap deal for Sancho.
The Red Devils have also considered a separate deal for the 20-year-old, although nothing is said to be advanced as of yet.
1420
Another update on Jadon Sancho and it seems the winger may be staying at Manchester United after all.
Asked about the England international in his press conference this lunchtime, and whether he would be remaining at Old Trafford, United boss Erik ten Hag said: “As I know, yes.
“He is in our squad and we are happy with him. We need a good squad, we need depth. We have to play many games until January. After the break we play every third day so we need options.”
1345
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Marc Guehi will be staying in South London despite Newcastle’s persistence.
The defender looked to be on the verge of heading to the North East but now will remain an Eagles player, where he was made captain this season.
Glasner said: “Congratulations to our owners because they didn’t give up. He always told me that he’s not pushing to leave Crystal Palace.”

Stories are starting to emerge regarding the future of Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
As we mentioned earlier, his supposed truce with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford hasn’t led to more playing time with Sancho not featuring in either of United’s opening two Premier League games.
Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are rumoured to be interested but it now seems Chelsea (of course, it had to be Chelsea) are looking to take him to Stamford Bridge. Despite having a plethora of wide players, it seems Sancho is a player of interest to Enzo Maresca.
That may have have a knock-on effect for Raheem Sterling, who is surplus to requirements and free to leave.
Reports suggest he has been offered to Arsenal but he may be included in any deal for Sancho and make a move back to Manchester.

West Ham are looking busy on Deadline Day…
The Hammers are set to bring Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler in on loan with an obligation to buy, according to Fabrizio Romano.
At the same time, James Ward-Prowse will be heading out on loan to make way for the Spaniard.
Nottingham Forest are finalising a deal for the 29-year-old, who only joined West Ham last summer.

There is only 12 hours to go until the window slams shut but Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has not given up hope of signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace just yet.
He has been speaking to the media ahead of the Magpies’ game against Tottenham this weekend and says things can still happen late in the day.
Speaking to BBC Radio Newcastle, he said: “There is still work going on to try and see what we can do in the last few hours of the window. So while there is time, there is hope.”

Everton have confirmed Neal Maupay has joined Marseille on a season-long loan with the Ligue 1 side having an obligation to buy the striker next summer.
Maupay has endured a miserable spell on Merseyside, scoring just once in 32 appearances but will now reunite with Roberto De Zerbi with whom he worked at Brighton.
The Toffees will be pleased to have got the Frenchman off the wage bill.

Wow, that’s quite a twist.
Sky Sports News are now reporting Al-Ahli have also agreed a deal to sign Brentford’s Ivan Toney for £40million. Do the Saudi Arabian side really want both Toney and Osimhen?
Or does this mean Osimhen has rejected a move to the Middle East, meaning they are now targeting Toney?
And how do Chelsea fit into all of this…? Intriguing.

Arne Slot is speaking to the media now ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
The Dutchman, who yesterday brought Federico Chiesa to Anfield, is unlikely to be busy today, although he refused to rule it out entirely.

Four-time defending champions Manchester City have signed Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan in this transfer window. City as a rule tend not to do much business on deadline days – Pep Guardiola is not one for scrambling round in the bargain bucket.
City aren’t expected to do anything today with full focus on tomorrow’s trip to West Ham.
0820
Another man worth watching today is Jadon Sancho. The England winger has again been frozen out at Manchester United despite a reported reconciliation with Erik ten Hag. Juventus appear in pole position although Paris Saint-Germain could make a late move.
Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund but the Bundesliga side have ruled out bringing him back to the club for a third time on financial grounds.

Frustration for Chelsea?
Sky Italy are reporting Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is set to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli. The Nigeria international was a reported target for Enzo Maresca whose bloated squad is arguably still short of a number nine to compete with Nicolas Jackson.
Does that put Ivan Toney in the frame for a move to Stamford Bridge?

Good morning and welcome to our deadline day blog in which we will cover off all the major deals before the window closes tonight at 11pm.
There are a number of players to keep an eye on as clubs scramble to bolster their squads ahead of another long season.
Will Chelsea’s frantic activity continue? Can they sign a new striker with Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen reportedly on their wishlist? And what of their ‘bomb squad’? Will the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell find new clubs?
Manchester United have also been active but Manuel Ugarte has yet to complete his move to Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain.
Another club seeking a number nine are Arsenal. Will the Gunners make a late move in the market?
