According to the Mirror, United boss Erik ten Hag is looking to strike back against Liverpool in the transfer market after missing out on Brighton man, Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister joined Liverpool earlier this week in a deal worth just £35m.

Now, the two rival clubs are set to go head-to-head for another star in the form of Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this year that Jurgen Klopp attended a meeting with Amrabat’s representatives with a view to a transfer, but failed to get a deal done.

But as we head into the summer window, Ten Hag, who worked with the player at Utrecht, is now keen to be reunited with him at Old Trafford.

Amrabat’s brother has also spoken out on interest from Manchester United: “Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible,” he told ESPN.

No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report.
