The impending squad overhaul and reshuffle at Manchester United set to be pursued by incoming boss Erik ten Hag this summer continues to be linked with a host of transfer speculation in the wake of the Red Devils confirming his future appointment, and the Dutch tactician has now set his sights on a potential upgrade in the right-back position.

United would be expected to stump up at least €35-million for the 26-year-old Rotterdam-native, who ten Hag will know exceptionally well from his stellar period with PSV across three highly-successful seasons.
Links to the 32-times-capped right-back would make plenty of sense as well, after reports surfaced just a few days ago that current right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not viewed as one of the core group of players that ten Hag intends to form a nucleus around at United, himself subject to transfer speculation linking the defender with a return home to Crystal Palace in the summer.
It is thought that United continue to keep tabs on Frenkie de Jong – another player ten Hag knows well – for a potential summer move as the current AFC Ajax boss looks to hit the ground running in a vital rebuilding period in the northwest of England, while Donny van de Beek could be given a second chance upon his arrival.
Should Dumfries arrive at the Theatre of Dreams, he would be one of the three or four players that ten Hag will look to secure this summer to focus on the long-term potential of the club’s project under his guidance.
