César Azpilicueta’s move to FC Barcelona is now off the table.

The Spaniard will instead sign a new two-year contract with Chelsea.

Barça had been looking to sign him as they eyed a cheap defender.

Azpilicueta’s move to Barcelona is OFF

Barcelona journalist Gerard Romero has revealed that Azpilicueta has decided to remain at Chelsea despite interest from the Catalan club.

The 32-year-old had been keen to make the move, however, crucially, he wanted his future resolved before the start of the new Premier League season.

Barça requested for him to give them a few more days whilst they resolved their issues with FFP.

He phoned Barcelona manager Xavi to inform him of his decision.

Brighton inform Cucurella to stay away from training

Despite Brighton denying an agreement with Chelsea over a deal for Marc Cucurella, the defender has been told NOT to train with them today.

Graham Potter wants to avoid any distractions as the team prepares to face Manchester United.

The Athletic report that Chelsea’s £52.5 million offer falls below Brighton’s asking price.

A deal for Levi Colwill is also yet to be agreed.
