Federico Chiesa has seemingly confirmed his imminent transfer to Liverpool after saying he is “excited” to join the Reds.

The Italy forward was reported by Fabrizio Romano to be travelling for a medical ahead of a €13million (£10.9m) switch to Anfield from Juventus.

Chiesa, 26, has also now broken his silence on the move, telling reporters he “can’t wait” to seal his move to Merseyside.

He said: “I’m very happy, I can’t wait to become new Liverpool player. Me and my family, we’re so happy really.

“Let me say thanks to Juventus and the fans, they have been always special with me.

“Now it’s time for Liverpool, I’m so happy. I can’t wait!.”

Chiesa first emerged as a target for the Reds on Monday with Arne Slot and Co keen to wrap up a deal before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The 51-cap international’s contract expires next summer and Juve were keen to offload the forward this summer.

He joined the Old Lady from Fiorentina on an intitial two-year loan deal in 2020 before joining permanently in 2022.

Overall, Chiesa has scored 32 goals in 132 appearances for Juventus.
