A fresh update on the future of in-demand Brighton & Hove Albion star Marc Cucurella has been provided on Thursday evening.
The name of full-back Cucurella has of course taken its place front and centre in the English media headlines over the last 48 hours.
This comes after Chelsea, out of the blue, leapfrogged previous frontrunners Manchester City in the race for the 24-year-old.
A number of reliable outlets went as far as to suggest that a deal to send Cucurella to Stamford Bridge was on the verge of completion, only for Brighton, late on Wednesday, to pour cold water on such claims:
CLUB STATEMENT: MARC CUCURELLA.
Contrary to inaccurate reports from numerous media outlets this evening, no agreement has been reached with any club to sell Marc Cucurella.

But, as alluded to above, despite the best efforts of the powers that be at the Amex Stadium, Cucurella’s Chelsea switch nevertheless appears imminent.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the former Barcelona talent has made his way to England’s capital, to undergo his medical tests with Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill is also set to be part of the deal, heading to Brighton on loan for the coming season.
Cucurella, for his part, is expected to put pen to paper on a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
After medical completed, Chelsea and Brighton set to sign documents for Marc Cucurella deal. 🚨 #CFC
