Premier League outfit Fulham have, on Friday, announced a big-money addition to the club’s defensive ranks.
The stopper to have taken his talents to Craven Cottage with a view to the new season? Calvin Bassey.
The name of Nigerian international Bassey has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Fulham over the course of the summer to date.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the 23-year-old had been identified as a prime target to reinforce Marco Silva’s squad.
Bassey, for his part, is fresh off something of a disappointing debut campaign in the Eredivisie, after an impressive stint on the books of Scottish giants Rangers culminated in a move to Ajax.
Upon word coming to the fore that the hierarchy at The Johan Cruyff Arena had opened to a swift sale, Fulham, in turn, swooped in decisive fashion.

As per an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
‘The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Calvin Bassey from Ajax for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance, which is expected to be received during the early part of next week.’
The ‘undisclosed’ fee in question is understood to come in around the €22.5 million mark.
Bassey has put pen to paper on a contract through the summer of 2027, featuring a club option for a further 12 months.
Welcome to Fulham, @CalvinBassey! 🤝
