Reports this week claim that Manchester United are eyeing up the potential transfer of Bayern Munich’s versatile defender, Benjamin Pavard.
Manchester United look set to face off with Inter Milan for Pavard’s signature, though that could hinge on what happens with Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta, who is also a target for the Serie A giants and seemingly close to finalising a move to the San Siro, according to Jacque Talbot.
Fabrizio Romano claimed recently that Azpilicueta has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan and could have his contract terminated by Chelsea in order to ensure a deal goes through. The Spaniard signed a two-year extension last summer so still has one year left on his current deal.
Should Chelsea indeed rip up Azpilicueta’s contract, he should be able to join Inter Milan, which would seemingly allow Man United a clear run at Pavard this summer.
Pavard can operate at both centre-back and right-back, making him an excellent pick-up for the Red Devils if they can get a deal over the line in the summer window.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned for Pavard.
