Liverpool have lost Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Fabinho will likely be added to that list soon, during the summer so far.
That is – if Fabinho does leave – five central midfielders gone in the space of a few months.
Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Alister and Dominik Szoboszlai to fill the void left by the players above.
But there remains a feeling that Liverpool are still short-staffed in the middle of the park and need at least one more face through the door this summer.
And now, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken out on transfers as we near the opening of the 2023/24 campaign.
Klopp stated that he is ‘really optimistic’ about the new options he is working with and criticised those who may suggest the team is undergoing too much change:
“We are working on solutions. First people want changes, now everyone is worrying about the changes. We are really optimistic about it. Excited as well.”
