The nightmare evening being endured by those of a Manchester United persuasion on Saturday has been compounded ever further by the latest word surrounding the future of prime transfer target Frenkie de Jong.
Erik ten Hag’s troops, of course, are currently locked in action.
On the back of an alarming opening day Premier League defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion, the Red Devils have made the trip to London, eyeing a bounce back result up against Thomas Frank’s Brentford.
To say that such efforts have thus far fallen short, though, would be an understatement to say the least.
Instead, remarkably, United currently find themselves in a four-goal hole.
This comes after a frankly laughable first-half showing opened the door for all of Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo to find the net.

And yet, as alluded to above, the woes being endured by the Manchester giants on Saturday have not ended there.
Almost perfectly lining up with the club’s disasterclass at the Brentford Community Stadium has been a fresh update on the future of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Dutch international De Jong has of course been targeted by the transfer team at Old Trafford throughout the summer to date, amid efforts to reunite the 25-year-old with ex-boss Ten Hag.
In a hammer blow to all associated with the club, however, it has this evening been revealed that, in fact, De Jong would rather take his talents to another of the Premier League’s clubs, should he be forced into a Camp Nou departure before the month is out.
The outfit in question? Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
Based on Saturday’s developments to date, it is hard to blame the midfield maestro…
Man United’s transfer window takes another hit. ❌
