Leicester City have set their sights firmly on the signing of an up-and-coming member of the academy ranks at Premier League giants Chelsea, according to reports.
The player in question? Cesare Casadei.
For those not familiar with his name, Casadei is a gifted midfielder, who made the move to Chelsea last summer after the Blues agreed to fork over a fee with the potential to rise to €20 million to Inter Milan.
Owing to the swathe of more experienced options in his way, the 20-year-old, however, is yet to make his mark on the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge.
Instead, he spent the 2nd half of this past season out on loan, featuring on 15 occasions (including 13 starts) for Reading in The Championship.
And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Saturday is anything to go by, then Casadei could well be in line for another imminent spell in England’s 2nd tier.
New boss Enzo Maresca’s engine room has been hit hard ahead of next season, with all of Nampalys Mendy, Youri Tielemans, and James Maddison having moved on following the Foxes’ relegation to The Championship.
With Harry Winks already on board, though, negotiations are now underway to bring in Casadei, too.
As per transfer expert Mike McGrath, the board at the King Power Stadium ‘are working on a deal for Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei to join on a season-long loan’.
