Kim Min-jae has only been with Napoli since the summer of 2022 but he is already one of the best centre-backs in the Serie A.
The 6ft 2 stopper has featured in all but one of Napoli’s 27 Serie A games so far this season.
In that time the current league leaders have shipped just 16 goals, which is the best record in the division by some distance.
His excellent form has seen him linked with Manchester United, but other sides could hold an advantage over Kim when it comes to a transfer.
Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in signing the South Korean, according to Ben Jacobs. Jacobs also believes the pair have a significant advantage over Manchester United, as the presence of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez could block Kim’s pathway to the first team:
“Manchester United are in a difficult position with that type of player because he sees himself as a starting centre-back and they’ve obviously got Martinez and Varane there,” Jacobs told TEAMtalk. “But there’s other teams that are looking to drop somebody straight into their starting lineup.
“And I think that would give those two clubs a slight advantage over Manchester United, because if Erik ten Hag is going to play a back four and Varane and Martinez are fit, then it becomes extremely difficult to persuade a player in the form and with the potential of Kim Min-jae to go to Old Trafford over those two other clubs. Especially when you consider that he’s not an 18-year-old.”
