The player in question is Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
The 22-year-old is expected to leave the club at the end of the season and Portuguese outlet Record claims that his emissaries are set to arrive in Lisbon with an offer from Liverpool this week.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report. Ugarte is under contract with Sporting until 2026.
Ugarte joined Sporting in August of 2021 for €10.5m. he has since featured 83 times for his current club, providing one goal and three assists.
The Uruguayan international is a defensive midfielder by trade and would likely be cover or a long-term replacement for Fabinho at Liverpool.
The Brazilian has been far from his best for large periods this campaign and Liverpool will likely be looking for competition in that spot this summer.
