Alex Baena signed for Villarreal as a youngster and had appeared sporadically for their first-team over the last few years.
Baena spent 2021/22 on loan in La Liga with Girona, where he scored five and assisted seven in 45 outings.
It is 2022/23, though, where Baena is truly beginning to shine. In 10 outings for Unai Emery’s Villarreal, he has scored six goals and provided two assists.
Baena is a left winger by trade, but he can also play on the right or through the middle.
The 21-year-old is under contract with Villarreal until 2025 and has a reported release clause of around £30.5m.
And now, a number of Premier League clubs are showing an interested in the wide man.
However, it is added that The Yellow Submarine are hoping to tie the rising star down to a new and improved deal to fend off any interest in one of their prized assets.
Given Manchester City already have Phil Foden and Jack Grealish playing on the left, they probably don’t need Baena that much.
Liverpool, meanwhile, could do with some cover for Luis Diaz, as could Arsenal for Gabriel Martinelli.
