The player in question is Southampton midfielder, Romeo Lavia, who has been linked with Liverpool for some time now.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool have already failed with a couple of bids to sign the talented young midfielder and they are preparing a third and final offer for him.
Southampton want a package worth around £50 million and Liverpool are now ready to offer £40 million plus add-ons for the midfielder.
It is added that the player is keen on the move and his camp have already informed Southampton that he is hoping to play for Liverpool next season.
Lavia would need to step up pretty quickly if Liverpool do indeed sign him as the Reds have already lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer – leaving them with very little cover at the base of their midfield.
This area was a problem for Liverpool last term and whilst they have made signings to fix this issue, potentially having a completely brand new midfield with Alexis Mac Alister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Lavia may cause some issues as well.
