Premier League giants Liverpool have identified a headline member of the defensive setup at Bayer Leverkusen as a new transfer target, according to reports.
The player in question? Piero Hincapie.
For those not aware, the powers that be at Liverpool are widely understood to be eyeing reinforcements at the heart of the club’s backline ahead of the close of the summer window.
A whole host of stoppers from across the continent, in turn, have been added to the Reds’ shortlist of targets.
And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, the name of one such potential recruit has been revealed.
As per a report from Neil Jones of Goal, Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie has emerged as a ‘potential transfer target for Liverpool’.
He has been tipped for a potential move to England on numerous occasions in the past, with Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy understood to hold a long-standing interest in the signature of the former Talleres talent.
To this point, however, Spurs have failed to formalise their interest, opening the door for a potential Liverpool swoop.
A significant offer would likely be required to coax Leverkusen into a sale, with it now remaining to be seen just how serious the Anfield brass are about adding Hincapie to the club’s defensive ranks.
