According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are keeping close tabs on Juventus and Italy winger Federico Chiesa, with the Turin-based outfit said to be considering parting ways with the 25-year-old this summer amid uncertainty over whether he plans to extend his stay at the club. Chiesa is currently under contract with Juve until 2025.
He is not short of suitors, but Liverpool are said to be one of the frontrunners to sign the winger this summer, and could be ready to submit their opening offer.
The report claims that Liverpool are weighing up a €40m offer, but Juve are holding out for a €60m fee.
Chiesa had a tough 2022/23 campaign that was beset with injury issues. In the 21 Serie A appearances he was able to make last season, he scored just two goals and provided five assists.
The European Championship winner is a natural left winger, which is a position Liverpool are already very well covered in at present. However, he can also play on the right and as Liverpool have no cover for Mohamed Salah, signing the Italian may be a smart move.
