The player in question is England star, Marcus Rashford.
Rashford enjoyed his most prolific season last time out. He netted 30 and assisted 11 in 56 games across all competitions for Manchester United as they secured a top-four berth and won their first piece of silverware since 2017.
However, Rashford has just one year left on his current contract and was linked with a move to Ligue 1 powerhouse, PSG, earlier this year.
Now though, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Rashford’s future.
“I can confirm that Marcus Rashford is really close to signing a new long-term deal at United, though when it’ll be announced is up to the club,” Romano said.
“It’s technically not done yet, some details have to be clarified soon but talks are very advanced.
Whilst Rashford signing a new deal is good news for Manchester United, fans are unlikely to be too pleased to hear that the club are classing his contract extension as a new signing in a summer they really need to improve their squad.
